object type: Gold, gilt metal and steel, wood and shagreen; the knife (A) has a near parallel steel blade which tapers to a downward point, the gold or gilt metal handle is of oval section and broadens the terminal cap.  The sides are of coiled bands embossed with ropework borders.  The ferrule and terminal cap are of filigree.   The fork (B) has three short gold tines on a long knopped stem, and a handle which is similar to that of the knife.  The case (C) is of wood covered with polished pearl ray shagreen; it has a pull-off lid, is of lobed oval section and tapers to a point.
