The flat, unglazed underside has a circula ventilation hole in the centre. The figure is supported on a roughly rectangular mound painted in pale green and brown. He has his right leg stretched out and his left bent, and plays a pipe which he holds in both hands. He has greyish-black hair in a bunch at the nape of his neck, and wears aa black neck tie, a pale yellow hat with the broad brim turned up on his right side, a white waistcoat with green edges and pocket flaps, a green jacked, pale yellow breeches, white stockings and red shoes.
