Sanago ground design with very high relief, done in various lacquer work techniques and fragments of Haliotis shell. Benki and Yoshitsune. On the reverse of the conch shell, there is a depiction of the staff, hat and beads of the Yamabushi (ascetic hermits). The top and bottom have giobu nashiji edged with haliotis shell pattern. The latter used also to decorate the cord runners. Lining and risers nashiji 18th century inro box, with the design added in the 20th century.
