The gilded paper scene is mounted on paper springs. Hand-coloured flowers and a die-cut scrap mounted at upper centre and lower centre with a printed paper scroll at lower centre bearing the motto: 'FONDLY THINE SWEET VALENTINE'. Inside is the handwritten inscription: 'Pene / 1864'.
