IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 208390 accession number: C.717 & A-2016 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Tuesday 16 February 2016 updated: Wednesday 11 May 2016 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Soft-paste porcelain thrown with applied moulded handle, spout and knob, painted overglaze in blue, yellowish-green, yellow, mauve, and red enamels, and gilt. The barrel-shaped body has a recessed base, an upward-tilting lightly fluted spout and an ear-shaped strap handle. There are six holes behind the spout to emit the tea. The almost flat cover fits onto a ledge inside the mouth of the pot. It has a large ventilation hole and a knob in the form of a flower with two leaves on its stalk. The underside of the rim and the outside of the flange which inside the mouth of the pot are unglazed. On each side the pot is decorated two panels repsectively containng a mythical beast and a table bearing vases and other objects. Below, a border of yellow and red triangles encircles the lower edge. The shoulder is decorated with a border of four oblong panels containing a plant in a pot alternativing with a striated diaper pattern, below which are four green and red lappets. There is a gold star and dots on the back of the handle and gold stylized foliage under and on top of the spout. The mouth and the end of the spot are banded in gold. The cover is decorated with panels containing plants, and a matchingborder.
