The cylindrical cup has an ear-shaped handle with an internal kick near the lower end, and a recessed base. The circular saucer has sloping sides and a flat centre with a recessed base. The underside of the edges of the base of both pieces are unglazed. The cup is decorated on the exterior with a continuous stylised Oriental landscape with buildings, hillocks, and fruiting and other trees. There was originally a gold band round the rim, and the handle has patches of gilding on its outer surface.
