object type: Comic valentine (carpenter). A hand coloured woodcut on very thin wove paper, which is folded in half to create an inside page (blank). The hand colouring is crudely executed. A printed verse below: "With head as senseless as the bench you work at, / Without coat, trousers, or a shirt to back; / A fit companion is your pewter pot, / I would not wed with such a sot." From a series of comic figures. P.14549-R is another version of the same valentine design, found loose within the collection.
