object type: Comic valentine (hypocritical Anglican clergyman). A hand coloured woodcut on very thin wove paper, which is folded in half to create an inside page (blank). The hand colouring is crudely executed. A male figure with an over-sized head wears a shallow, wide-brimmed hat, a white cravat and a frock coat. He holds an umbrella in his right hand. A printed verse below: "With upturned eyes, and pious cant, / Sleek hypocrite, of heaven you rant; Draw from your dupes their hard-earned pelf, / In name of CHARITY; - In truth for SELF." From a series of comic figures.
