object type: 48mo-size embossed paper (as lace) with glittered surface (probably mica) and window outlined (faintly) in green to show a hand-coloured lithograph by Edward Gilks of a woman leaning against a plinth wearing a dress with a black bodice and yellow skirt. A lithographed signature at lower right: E. Gilk[s]. A printed motto in red ink on a gold-edge scroll affixed at lower centre: "Next time you knock / don't forget the ring". The card is missing parts of its back sheet and is mounted on a larger sheet of white wove paper. Almost identical to an adjacent valentine in the same album (P.14411-R-30) which also incorporates a lithograph by Edward Gilks. Glaisher's collection contains a number of lithographed valentines designs by Edward Gilks, a number of which are mounted in album P.14346-R.
