object type: A large 8vo white wove paper valentine with an embossed border design of lyres, music, trumpets and acanthus scrolls. At the centre is a lozenge of applied pale orange lace-paper (positioned as upright) which contains a panel of green tissue paper with a hand-painted design of leafy branches and applied pink paper hand-coloured flowers. Four silver paper ornaments of laurel wreaths and love knots are affixed around the central lozenge over stencilled sprays of leafy branches in blue ink/paint. A verse is hand-written at upper and lower centre: 'Believe my love these lines are true / None are so dear to me as you'. The interior is blank. Although the paper is unstamped, the design of this card is very similar to another, P.14414-R-48, mounted in the same album and which bears the Kershaw stamp.
