The letterhead illustration features an outdoor scene with various valentine emblems, such as a large flaming heart containing a house presented by Hymen (with flaming torch) and Cupid (with bow). A fountain is seen in the distance and a pair of clasped hands at centre right. A large printed letter 'M' at centre left would presumably have been the first letter of either printed or hand-written verse or the first letter of the recipient's name.
