IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 215349 accession number: P.14418-R-1 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Tuesday 14 February 2017 updated: Monday 29 May 2017 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: White cameo-embossed lace-paper in two layers of a central design featuring a courting couple in 18th-century costume flanked to left and right by two pairs of winged putti carrying flower garlands and the flaming torches of Hymen. Along the lower edge is a collage of white and pink linen leaves and flowers with gold metallic paper leaves. At upper centre is a verse printed in gold ink on lilac paper: 'Come live with me and / be my love'. Gold metallic paper leaves are affixed to either side. The top layer of paper is mounted on paper springs and would originally have been raised up to create a three-dimensional scene, but the two layers have since been pasted together. A hand-written inscription in graphite on the album leaf above: 'Vo [?verso] 1861'. Probably transcribes a date found on the verso of the valentine prior to mounting into the album. The hand is unknown. title: Valentine card LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Paintings, Drawings and Prints creditline: Bequeathed by Dr J.
