IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 215368 accession number: P.14418-R-20 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Tuesday 14 February 2017 updated: Monday 29 May 2017 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: White embossed lace-paper of two layers is joined with paper springs. The paper springs are now pasted down and the two layers also pasted to the back paper. A circular window at upper centre containins a chromolithograph of a winged boy Cupid carrying a bow and plucking pink roses. The chromolithograph has a gold border and has been trimmed and positioned at lower centre of the circular window. It is surrounded by a silver embossed frame which gapes at the left side. This part of the valentine may have been a later adaptation for a child. A collage of fabric flowers and cut-paper leaves is affixed below the window at upper centre. A yellow/pink and white coloured and frosted leaf is affixed inside a lozenge-shaped window at lower right. Remnants of paste inside an identical window at lower left indicates that this would also probably have originally contained an identical frosted leaf. A heart-shaped motto printed in gold ink on white paper with a gilt lace-paper frame is affixed at lower centre: 'In Love / I hope to / Conquer'. title: Valentine card LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Paintings, Drawings and Prints creditline: Bequeathed by Dr J.
