A tint-block of pale yellow is applied generally, with a slightly darker yellow tone added across the body of the horse and for the background details in the lower third of the image, with white added to the lower part of the horse's hind legs. The yellow tint has been blocked out in a few areas at lower centre to indicate patches of sunlight or paler sand.
