A head and shoulders portrait with shoulders directed towards the right and head turned three-quarters towards the left. The Italian artist, Luca Giordano (1634-1705) appears in late middle-age, balding and wearing nose spectacles. A cloak around his shoulders covers a doublet with three buttons and lace collar visible. Lettered below the image with title and production details: 'Effigies Celeberrimi Pictoris / LUCAE JORDANI Neapolitani. / J. B. Catenaro pinxit Madriti & Londini sculpsit'. An inscription on the verso in brown ink is possibly initials, but is partly obscured and indecipherable.
