DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Stoneware with dark blue volcanic glaze with gold patches. The jug is oval in plan with straight sides, ridged horizontally on the interior, a projecting gutter-shaped spout, and a flat vertical D-shaped handle. With the exception of an oval area around the edge of the base, it is covered with volcanic glaze, which is variegated shades of pale to dark purplish-blue with a few random gold splashes on the exterior, and brown, grey and pale purplish-blue on the inside. The overall effect resembles the cratered surface of the moon.
