Three-quarter length, seated at a table in an interior (probably Sherwood Lodge) and viewed in profile to the left, her right hand holding her turbaned head and her elbow resting on an open illustrated book supported by a cushion and rolled oriental carpet. She wears a pale satin gown with a rose pinned at her waist, a brocade shawl around her left shoulder and at her left side.
