A young girl wearing a fancy gown and tiara, kneeling in a wooded clearing, hugging a spaniel dog to her chest. She looks directly out at the viewer. Jane Bowles (1772-1812) was the eldest child of Oldfield Bowles of North Aston, Oxfordshire, a talented amateur painter. She married Richard Palmer (1765-1806) in 1791.
