Lady Caroline Montagu (1774-1854) was the third daughter of Henry Scott, 3rd Duke of Buccleugh and Elizabeth, daughter of George, Duke of Montagu. Also known as Lady Caroline Montagu-Scott before marriage and as Lady Caroline Douglas following her marriage in 1803 to Charles Douglas, 6th Marquess of Queensbury. As a child, standing in a wintry, parkland landscape, snow on the branches of the trees, full-length facing the spectator, wearing a hat, cloak and muff against the cold.
