The pot pale is buff earthenware, marbled on the exterior in grey. The lid is white earthenware decorated with a multi-colour underglaze transfer print. The cylindrical pot splays out slightly towards the base, which is recessed. At the top it has a ledge to support the cover, which is domed with a narrow rim. The cover is decorated on top with Girl with Grapes also known as Sharing the Gains inscribed 'MURILLO PINX' below; border Fig. VIII g.. The transfer-print has integral initials 'JA' for Jesse Austin (1806-79) at the bottom.
