object type: Bowl, bone china, rounded at base rising to slightly flared straight sides, standing on raised foot-rim. Decorated with covercoat transfer and in turquoise, blue and gold with ‘Chou Dynasty’ design of dragons and other ancient Chinese-inspired images in a wide band covering the exterior, a narrower band inside the rim and a central motif. Gold rim. Underside indented and flat within foot-rim, glazed. Printed on the underside: ‘FROM A BRONZE RITUAL WINE BUCKET OF WESTERN CHOU DYNASTY – 11TH CENTURY OR EARY 10TH CENTURY’ around ‘CHOU DYNASTY’
