object type: Bowl. Porcelain, thrown, and covered with clear glaze, and dark brown, 'bronze' glaze (manganese, probably with copper carbonate) with sgraffito decoration. Circular with deep sloping sides and narrow curved well, standing on a high footring. The well, the base, and the interior of the footring are clear glazed. The interior and exterior sides, and the exterior of the footring are coated with dark-brown 'bronze' glaze. On the inside the sides are decorated with fine sgraffito lines radiating outwards from the well, and on the outside, radiating upwards from the top of the footring. Inside, on one side, the brown glaze has bled slightly into the well.
