IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 317264 accession number: E.GA.114a.1949 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Tuesday 2 April 2024 updated: Friday 18 July 2025 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Carved wooden statuette of woman. object type: Carved wooden statuette of a standing woman with arms by side. Suggested as not ancient Egyptian, due to unusual rendering of figure, with an exaggeration of features (particularly breasts and hips). There is severe damage to the back of the head, and a chip as well as a missing piece can be seen on the rear. The object stands on a square base (with a single dowel hole), and is said to connect to E.GA.114b.1949, a square base. However, the number of dowel holes do not match, and it is written in slip-book 'E.GA.1501.1947 to E.GA.250.1949' as: "Statuette of woman, base which is inscribed, does not belong". The reason behind this pairing originally remains unclear. Label on back reads: "R.G.Gayer-Anderson Loan Collection, 1917, VI-17'. A pen inscription reads 'E.114/49'. title: statuette LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Antiquities STABLE URL ---------- url: https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/317264 TECHNIQUES ---------- carved CATEGORIES ------ category: statuette DATING ------ DIMENSIONS ---------- dimension: Depth units: cm value: 3.9 dimension: Height units: cm value: 23.6 dimension: Width units: cm value: 6.6
