object type: HMS Wild Swan, an Osprey-class sloop-of-war built in Govan shipyard, was launched in 1876 and commissioned into the Royal Navy. In 1880 she was involved in anti-slavery service off the Mozambique coast and in 1881 conducted joint actions with Portuguese forces in the fight against slavers.
HMS Wild Swan became a base ship in 1904, renamed ‘Clyde’. In 1913, she was renamed ‘Columbine’ and was sold for breaking in 1920.
