object type: Soft-paste porcelain coffee pot and cover, painted underglaze in blue, and onglaze in red, yellow, turquoise, blue, brown, black and pink enamels and gilt. The pear-shaped coffee pot has a curved spout and S-scroll handle, on a low footring. The domed cover is surmounted by a flower knob. It is painted on both sides in famille-rose style with a seated man and a lady beside a marble table, a gardener offering a plant in front of a tall table. The rim is banded with a floral diaper border in underglaze blue, below a gilt line. The cover is decorated en suite, the flower knob naturalistically coloured.
