object type: Soft-paste porcelain caudle cup and saucer, painted in turquoise, red, misfired yellow, green and gilt. The cup is of double-ogee shape, with lobed and barbed rim, and double rococo scroll handles, on a low footring. The deep saucer is of similar shape. The cup is painted on each side, in Kakiemon style, with the 'Quail pattern', the interior with a turquoise rococo scroll-edged border interspersed with flower sprays and trellis diaper vignettes, the rim banded in gilt. The saucer is en suite.
