object type: Bone china, moulded, painted onglaze in shades of blue, green, yellow, pale brown and grey enamels, and gilt. In the middle there is a gold circle enclosing a four-armed formal motif with small flower heads in the spaces between the arms. Outside this medallion there are two oval panels painted respectively with views of St John's College, Cambridge, and the Paladian Bridge at Stowe, Buckinghamshire. Between the panels , all in gold, there are rococo- style motifs made up of scrolls and shell-shapes, and round the outer edge, a narrow border of scrolls and low pedestal shapes.
