On the reverse is an inscription printed in gold slightly gothic lettering, 'The St. Edward Plate/1065-1965/With the approval of Her/Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II/and the authority of the Dean/and Chapter of Westminster/this plate has been created in/celebration of the nine hundreth/anniversary of the Abbey's/foundation by St. Edward, King/and Confessor. Nine hundred plates only have been made of which this is number 881'. In square blue presentation box (A) , the lower part lined royal blue silk, and the lid lined with white silk, printed in gold in the centre with 'Spode'.
