IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 57288 accession number: E.GA.2864a.1943 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Friday 18 July 2025 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: uraeus object type: Carved wooden uraeus serpent, upright with sundisk on head, and a square tenon joint at base. A round hole is visible just above the serpent's head. The surface is exposed plain wood, however there is a general coverage of a white material, but this may not be pigment. Interestingly, what appears to be a drawn pencil line runs up the front (and partially the back) of the serpent, in the entirety of middle of the serpent, onto the sun disk. On the square tenon on the base, a number of marks can be read including "Luxor 20XII 15". There are further marks on the base of the tenon, but it is not clear if these are purposed. There is a strong stylistic similarity between this example and E.GA.2864b.1943 which has led to them being grouped together. title: part LICENSING --------- text license status: CC0 image license status: CC-BY-NC-SA OWNERSHIP --------- instutition: The Fitzwilliam Museum department: Antiquities STABLE URL ---------- url: https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/57288 CATEGORIES ------ category: to be identified DATING ------ DIMENSIONS ---------- dimension: Height units: cm value: 20 dimension: Width units: cm value: 4.6
