object type: Sanstone grave relief dating to the mid12th century. Although the exact findspot is unknown the object is marked by the excavator with Argin-Nubia. The relief marked the grave of a woman named Angelosko who was a christian. The months are given in the old traditional Egyptian form and the second part is a prayer. The first section reads: God of the spirits and all flesh, you who have annihilated death and trodden down hell and bestowed life upon the world, rest the soul of your servant Angelosko in the bosoms of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in a place of light, in a place of green, in a place of refreshment, where pain and grief and groaning have fled away. Absolve, remit forgive every sin committed by her in work or deed or thought, since there is no human being who will live and not sin. Your justice is justice for ever, Lord, and your word is truth and remains for ever. For you are the rest and the resurrection and the life of your srvant and to you we sing glory. Demise on the 30th day of the month Pharmouthi. The years of her life were 76... The text ends here.
