object type: Reddish-buff earthenware, tin-glazed pale turquoise-green, and painted in blue, turquoise-green, yellow, and manganese-purple. The mug stands on a concave base. It has a bulbous lower part which narrows towards the rim, and an applied loop handle which is rounded on the outside and slightly concave inside. The exterior is painted with a man holding a spear accompanied by a running hound chasing a stag in a landscape with a house, trees and two seated  deer with schematic birds flying above them. Above the stag are the initials and date '16/S/IA/76'. Two horizontal manganese bands run round the body below the rim, and the handle is horizontally striped in blue.
