object type: Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed bluish-white, and painted in blue, green, and manganese-purple. The hollow recumbent cat has the broken base of a candlestick on its back. The ground around it is painted green. The cat's fur is painted with small striations in manganese-purple forming stripes which follow the contours of its body, and are painted over in thin pale blue. The base of the candlestick has a row of blue zig-zags below a horizontal line.
