object type: Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue, Octagonal with an almost flat rim, and deep circular centre, standing on a low footring. The front is decorated with a central medallion containing a lotus flower surrounded by eight petal-shaped panels each containing a lotus flower with a ground of close-set spirals. On the back of the rim there are four 'herbal sprigs' situated where the rim meets the well.
