IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 73076 accession number: C.2073-1928 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Saturday 6 August 2011 updated: Friday 15 December 2023 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Dark brown stoneware, with applied moulded relief decoration, iron-brown wash, and salt-glaze, painted in lavender-blue, green, yellow, red, flesh, grey, white and black enamels, and gold; pewter screw top cover with brass ring. The flask is of oval six-sided form with a slightly spreading foot, and short neck to which is attached a circular pewter mount with a screw top to take the smaller cylindrical cover, which has a large brass ring. The underside of the base is slightly concave. The sides are decorated with six oval panels enclosed by wreaths with masks and foliage between them. Each panel has at the top either a heraldic rose or a putto's head and drapery, with below a figure of an Apostle holding his emblem with scattered gold stars in the back gound. On the shoulder there are six jewel motifs, surounded by white spots, and the top edge is encircled by white spots.
