object type: Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, olive-green, yellow, manganese-purple, purple, pale and dark brown. The rectangular base is open underneath and is decorated on top to resemble a grassy mound. The circular watch holder with a rococo frilled and scrolled edge  is supported by a branch of scrollwork and a tree trunk growing upwards from the viewer's left of the base. A barefooted boy holding a blue ball in his right hand and pointing upwards with his left hand sits on the mound with his back to the tree trunk. He wears a white shirt, manganese-purple jacket and pale brown breeches, His yellow broad-brimmed hat trimmed with ribbons lies on the ground to the left. A small white dog with purple and brown patches dog sits to the right of him.
