DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Pale buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed and painted in blue. The vase has a pear-shaped body laterally compressed and moulded on the front with a rococo-scrolled panel with a grotesque mask and ring at the bottom. This rests against the upper part of the oval base which is concave underneath. The upper part of the panel is decorated with a a flying bird and Chinese-style flowering plants, and the lower part with two ducks on a blue ground. The panel is edged by a blue line and with projecting sprigs of foliage and at the top has covered urn. The back of the vase is decorated with a spray of foliage with three stems, and there is a line around the edge of the base and sprays of foliage on either side of the ring at the base of the panel. The underside is marked with 'A' underlined over 'DVMV'.
