The vase is of square baluster form with incurved corners, a straight-sided neck, and a slightly flaring base which is concave underneath. The sides are decorated with vertical panels, two containing a Chinese lady and two, a standing Chinese man holding a scroll painted with the head and shoulders of a man, all in garden settings. Below is a border of stylized leaves pointing downwards reserved in a blue ground. Above on the shoulder there are four circular reserves containing a leaf and wavy ribbons, and smaller reserves containing scrolls reserved in a blue ground.
