DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Bone china, painted underglaze in blue and overglaze in red, green, and gold. The pail has deep slightly curved sides and a scalloped rim with two vertical handles pierced by heart-shapes. The low domed cover is pierced by twelve circular holes and has a flat button-shaped knob.   The exterior of the pail is decorated with a continuous Oriental garden with fences and flower plants, and above it with a broad complex border of waves, scrolls, and plant motifs. The cover is decorated with a circle of flower heads and a narrower border. The top of the knob is gilded.
