The cylindrical mug was thrown and turned with a slightly projecting horizontal band about a quarter of the way up from the base. The applied strap handle has vertical reeding and a kick at the lower end. Incised around the lower part below the raised band are the name and date '17 Enoch Booth 42'. The area above is divided into three zones of scratch-blue decoration. The lowest is a narrow band of spaced ellipses. The next is a broad band with three long-tailed birds separated by oak foliage and tendrils, and a spray of acorns.
