Shape: flaring, fluted conical body with moulded decoration descends via a carination onto a foot ring base. On the body a cylindrical neck, with angular spout, flares outwards toward the rim. A shaped strap handle with thumb rest is attached to the neck and lower body.
Exterior: On the neck, upper body and lower body, a series of horizontal friezes of leaves or dotted circles are outlined in black and painted in blue; on upper sections these are separated by narrow bands of yellow dotted with black. On the body, moulded gadroons contain vertical wavey leaf designs, which frame an inverted arch, outlined by another yellow band, and containing a polychrome floral spray, with a black dotted fish scale pattern in the spandrels. On the spout and handle, complex patterns incorporating further fish scales and blue and yellow foliage are painted. On the base a potter’s mark is painted in black. Glaze covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
Interior: undecorated except for the glazeC.55-19111accession numberC.55-191175498priref75498urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/75498https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/75498painted in black under the glazeexterior base (underside of foot ring)painted in blackfeather like potter's markinscriptionsquare paper label with serrated edgesexterior base (underside of foot ring)printed in red, hand written in pencil155/3labelreferenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumGiven by the Friends of The Fitzwilliam Museumreferenceagent-149645adlib-agent-14964510925b71-6838-30f7-a8dd-b68a2afaa14dThe Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum191119111911-03-20givenEntry date: 1911-03-2017001700CE1700circa1700179911799CE1799circa1799potterreferenceagent-149652adlib-agent-1496520d4f90dc-b166-3d4b-b0db-25f4118b6e98Unknownreferenceterm-106400adlib-term-1064003e80c102-1483-3c39-b2f4-67e333d653d818th Centuryreferenceterm-68536adlib-term-685363c89ebdd-d330-3a1e-a4c6-43976f1802adOttomanreferenceterm-116799adlib-term-116799bed872e6-2660-38bb-8cb7-6e72cd7a47dbliteralTurkeyTurkeycountryliteralAnatoliaAnatoliaregionKütahyaKutahiyareferenceterm-108851adlib-term-10885124e00e11-7f5d-3ad5-acda-1a5b13378105fritwareHeightcm16.8Weightg586Widthcm15.3referencemedia-45370adlib-media-45370c375af0f-1aa4-34b1-9c24-01571de68edbjpegaa/aa16/C_55_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162763386501imagejpegaa/aa16/mid_C_55_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels649widthpixels50016162763386501imagejpegaa/aa16/C_55_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels740widthpixels57016162763386501imagejpegaa/aa16/preview_C_55_1911_281_29.jpg1heightpixels325widthpixels25016162763386501image0media
