object type: White earthenware, moulded, and painted in blue under very slightly blue lead-glaze. Circular with scalloped shell-moulded edge, gently sloping rim and deep well. Decorated in the middle with an Oriental style building, fences, and stylized trees and bushes beside a lake (a version of 'pagoda and fence' pattern), with groups of three dots in the sky. There is a  trellis border round the sides of the well, and the outer edge is blue.
