The square straight-sided based is glazed and hollow underneath and has a central ventilation hole. Its exterior is decorated with two horizontal dark brown lines. The little boy stands on a mound in front of a tree trunk with short projecting branches and bocage level with his thighs. The front of the mound is decorated with curving blue and pale orange strokes. The boy has three leaves on top of his greyish-brown hair, and is nude apart from a black and yellow spotted drape with green edges which passes over his right shoulder across his back and under his left arm. In both hands he holds a lilac-coloured wicker basket filled with blue and yellow flowers and leaves.
