The figure is supported on a rectangular base with incurved corners which is closed and glazed underneath and has an oval concave centre. Yellow lines imitating gilding run round its upper and lower edges. The lady is seated on a high-backed salmon-pink chair with curving legs and hoof feet, which has a yellow shawl draped over its back. She holds the lute in her left hand and has her right hand over the strings. She has brown hair with a floral ornament on the front of her head, a white frill round her neck with a blue bow at the back, and a yellowish-brown necklace. Her yellowish-brown sack back dress has elbow-length sleeves with white flounces, and a criss-cross patterned stomacher decorated with two blue rosettes. The skirt is open below the waist to show a purple petticoat with a yellow fringe across the lower edge. Her shoes are yellow with red pompoms on top. Her lapdog is white and black.
