object type: Brown stoneware, thrown, with applied handle, applied moulded decoration, brown wash, and salt glaze. The jug is of an elongated pear shape standing on a low foot. Its flaring mouth is pinched at the front to form a lip, and it has a strap handle with disks on either side of its junction with the rim. The sides are decorated with a spray of vine leaves, tendrils, and bunches of grapes which meanders around the body and up the back of the handle. Near the base to the left of the handle is the impressed mark JZ within a quatrefoil.
