Scope note

Use for those whose primary work is to repair or refinish shoes, boots, and other footwear, and sometimes also other items such as handbags, luggage, and belts made from the materials commonly used in shoemaking and repair, such as leather, canvas, and plastic. For those who make and sometimes also design footwear as well as repair it, use "shoemakers."
