Puberty

Scope note

Stage of physical development at which living beings first become capable of sexual reproduction, marked by the maturing of the reproductive organs and the development of secondary sexual characteristics. In human beings it usually occurs between the ages of 10 and 15, and in North American common law it is defined as the age of 14 for boys and 12 for girls.
