Use for the bookbinding sewing method in which loose leaves or gatherings with damaged folds are sewn on to cords or tapes on a sewing frame, the thread passing through the sheets close to and over the binding edges, while at the same time the stitches of one gathering loop up through the stitches of the previous one. Distinct from "overcasting," in which the gatherings are grouped in order and then sewn by the all along method.
