Flue pipes

Scope note

Organ pipes with a flue or windway through which air is blown to issue in a flat sheet of wind striking the edge of the upper lip of the pipe mouth. The eddies of wind created at the mouth combine with the vibrating column of air in the pipe to create the tone.
