A form of door hardware that consists of a single knob fastened to one end of a spindle, on the other end of which is a rose or plate used to secure the knob and spindle to the closet door. Distinguished from "doorknobs," in which a pair of knobs on opposite ends of a spindle is used to release the door latch.
