Jetties (erosion protection works)

Scope note

Use for structures extending from the shore into a body of water and built to influence current or protect the entrance to a harbor or river from shoaling. For similar structures built to control or direct seashore erosions, use "groins (erosion protection works)"; use "wing dams" when such erosion control structures occur along banks of rivers or streams.
